How do I switch to a different checking account?
If you want to switch, you need to notify us. You can do that in any one of three ways:

How do I know which checking account is best suited for me?

Can I get overdraft protection on my free checking account?
That feature is not available on the free checking account. If overdraft protection is important to you, another Lake Trust checking account may be a better choice.

Any required minimum balances can be spread among any of these deposit accounts.
Can I receive my canceled checks back in the mail?
Because returning canceled checks is cost-prohibitive, Lake Trust scans each canceled check and keeps the image on file. These scans are accepted as proof of payment. For your protection, we destroy the original soon after scanning. You can view an electronic image of your checks through Internet Banking. You can also request copies of checks by phone.
How do I get a copy of a check?
Through Internet Banking, you can view and print electronic images of your checks at no charge.
What if my checkbook balance differs from my statement balance?
If you believe Lake Trust Credit Union made an error regarding your account, please let us know, and we will research the discrepancy. We want you to be certain your account is correct.
Why should I use blue or black ink when writing checks?
When we scan your canceled check for our files, the only ink colors that reproduce properly are black or blue. If you use a color like red or purple to write your check, the scanned image will appear to be a blank check.
What if a check clears for the wrong amount and/or check number?
Call our Member Contact Center at 517.267.7200 or 888.267.7200. We will review the scanned image of the check and make the correction.
Do I have to show a student ID to receive the Student Checking account benefits?
Yes. You can also use other documentation, such as your acceptance letter, class schedule, tuition bill, etc.
