Social Entrepreneurial Scholarship

We believe that doing good in the community and doing good business should go hand-in-hand. With this scholarship, we’ll help you take your social enterprise start-up idea or established business to the next level.

Five $2,000 scholarships available

  • Use for continuing education or business-related activities


Two full-ride scholarships to the Entrepreneurship program at Cleary University are also available.

  • Scholarship only applies to tuition expenses. Student is responsible for any other fees, including room and board, technology, or student life. Scholarship is contingent upon student meeting admission requirements1

  • Tuition amount equivalent to traditional 4-year, adult non-traditional 2-year or 4-year, or graduate 2-year student tuition. See Cleary University tuition pricing1.

If selected as one of ten finalists, you'll pitch your idea at Lake Trust headquarters in Brighton the week of July 9. During this presentation, you’ll tell us how your idea could (or already does) have a positive impact on the community while also meeting a business need.

Anyone in our 35-county service area may apply. Scholarship recipients will have to open a Lake Trust membership if they are not already a member.

Must be a resident in the state of Michigan

An essay talking about your future plans is required

New Beginnings Scholarship

Take a new path in life by pursuing a career in a trade or by attending a career technical education program. We’re awarding four scholarships to help individuals take a more hands-on approach to their career.

Four scholarships available: $5,000 (1), $2000 (2), and $1,000 (1)

  • Use for tuition costs, professional clothes or fees, tools, or dues

Lake Trust Credit Union Community Impact Scholarship Program in Honor of Doug Hawes

We're honoring Douglas Hawes by awarding a one-time, full-ride scholarship to an individual who is pursuing an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in one of the following programs at Cleary University: Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Information Security and Assurance, or Analytics, Technology and Innovation. In Doug's honor, the Lake Trust Foundation will award one of the following scholarships: 

Traditional or Non-Traditional Student: Student pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree or a two-year associate degree in Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, or Information Security and Assurance at Cleary University

OR

Graduate Student: Student pursuing a master's degree in Analytics, Technology, and Innovation at Cleary University
